Art Garfunkel Show

Art Garfunkel gave a sweet show at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center (northern L.A. County) to about a thousand people. His four man band was pretty strong. Arty was quirky, weird and so fun to watch, and especially to listen to.

In truth his voice was not quite what I expect. His records show a floating pure tenor. In concert, live, I was afraid it might break. But it never did. He hit power notes and the gentlest whisper

It feels a little more like "an event" than it should I think. But it was wonderful to hear the Garfunkel standards from he S&G days. Everyone loved and teared up during the song that he said "has been good to me"... Bridge Over Troubled Waters. But, for me the highlight was a single acoustic guitar accompanied version of Kathy's Song. I couldn't move for a couple minutes.

He had a funny way of letting the mike slip away from his mouth, resulting in us not being able to hear him till he remembered to reconnect with his electronics. I am not sure why, nerves, forgetfulness, some other brain interference... but, even that was entertaining in its funny, slightly odd, way. I loved it.

Go Art...
