McCain and the NYT
As I was getting ready for work this morning I heard the local morning show gossip person (Dorothy Lucey on KTTV in LA) telling how she heard about the story. Her husband yelled at her, "Did you hear that McCain had an affair?!?" She told that story on the air. She just treated it as an obvious fact. Read the article. There are no facts in the story. It is innuendo and implication. Can't anyone read?
The article in the NYT said that McCain's aides told him that he was behaving inappropriately with a lobbyist. "Mr. McCain acknowledged behaving inappropriately and pledged to keep his distance from Ms. Iseman." That is the extent of the allegation. Where are any facts about infidelity? Either people project their own shortcomings on this statement OR it has become so common that they believe they have the right to make the assumption. It's ridiculous and unfair.
If it is true NYT, prove it. Don't just hint and whisper and drag someone in your mud.
